In addition to sleeping with a regular schedule and having my own place, one thing I was really excited about when arriving in Jeddah was the diving. I did some research before I left and knew it would be my new hobby. Picking up some gear before leaving, I arrived in Jeddah fully prepared.

I'm using an 8-year old GoPro without a color filter, so I apologize for the (blatant) sub-par photography and video clips.

The dive crew I tend to go with is made up of a bunch of Lebanese dudes. They are good homies and shouldered the burden of training me. I recently finished my Rescue Diver certification. Rabie and I grab a bite to eat after a day in the water.

Our go-to destination in La Plage, a beach resort about 40 minutes north of my house.

It has some of the best coral in the region. Ample fish, eels, rays, and occasionally turtles and dolphin.

Enjoying my time...

One of the more memorable dives was a boat trip out to a shipwreck. The ship was supposedly carrying crates full of chickens. I can only imagine the feeding frenzy that must've ensued. It crashed on some surrounding coral.

Resting at about 20 meters.

And my first night dive! The feeling of submerging at night, then turning off our torches is almost indescribable. It is a wonderful mix of euphoria and terror.

About Me

Shorts and t-shirt time in Maracaibo. I'm all about Natalia Lafourcade & Mon Laferte, goofing off, staring at the bridge outside my window, and drinking coffee.
